I don't have a favorite book, but a good book that i have read is The Tower of Ravens. I like it because it has magic and mythical creatures and conflict.
The author is Kate Forsyth, and a synopsis of the plot is that someone killed a very important person, but they don't know who. The killer didn't know, and she was just protecting her mother. The killer falls in love with the main character.
